Some of my favourite pieces

... and recently done:

These two small plates (see my hand?) I painted with flowers, in a basket I made with dimensional paste! So, the basket is raised. It was a fun project, which I painted two-at-a-time :)

This is the close-up of a corner, showing the dimensional-paste scroll-work on my painting, A blue vase of roses:

A 7 1/2 inch square, with palette-knife background:

7 by 11 - ish - that's about the size of this painting:  A stylised tulip:

A tin waste-bin, in creamy white, with pink roses, and forget-me-nots:

My first chrysanthemum : In a hot pink, on an off-white ceramic plate:

My peacock, looking so coy!!! Doodled in pen-and-ink, and painted in metalics:

Two potholders, in wood, measuring about 5-inch square.

Background painted in milk chocolate. Lace, in Titanium white.

Callas and poppies

I am mucking about with my water-colour pencils again, and I must say that every time I do, I feel like I am six-years-old again :)

I love calla lilies, and I am trying so hard to paint them. Likewise, poppies. And BOTH don't come out the way I want them to. The calla lillies look like stepped-on, melted yellow wax when I am done, and the poppies look like red blotches of dried blood :(

SO: to get my brain used to the idea of creating these beautiful flowers, I decided to sketch them. Then, I took out my water-colour pencils and coloured them in. Then, I applied the water, and nearly died when it all turned to mush for a bit. A bit of tissue, some dry brushes to mop up messes, and the result is below. Sigh.

I hope the next time I post them, they will be paintings of callas and poppies - done half-decently!

Together, in my sketch-book . . .

The calla lily and a basket of daisies

I have been trying to figure out how to paint this flower - which I love - and here is someone who figured out how for me!

Plus, a lovely surprise for me to find this one today - Ros Stallcup painting daisies:

Poppies, orchids, calla lilies: almost fail-dot-com

These are flowers I'm having a hard time painting. The pix here are taken from my 'book of trials' - so aptly named, I think!!!
A first attempt at a many-petaled poppy.
... getting there
An orchid that that's found in my garden. Except
that it's purple-and-white.
I really want to paint this flower, but I'm not quite there yet.

'Why 'blue', ma?' I can hear my daughter asking!!!
Because I have lots of extra blue ;)

... another try.
