Za is my buddy from French class, and she's kindly agreed to take notes for me when I'll be away from class over the next couple of weeks! I'm hoping that this book-mark, smiling up at her during class, will help her to remember her assignment... er, I mean, promise! ;)
A bookmark like that is sure to distract from the book :)

About 'mon ami': I am correct, I am afraid. Even though Za is a girl, ma ami would not be correct because of a rule in French called the 'vowel clash': two vowels should not appear next to each other. In such cases, an 'n' is usually added, making it mon ami.
